Spreading Kindness Through Greeting Cards - Friday Loves Notes: Andrea Loborec
Vancouver!
If you’ve been receiving greeting cards with words of kindness, that’s because Inkwell Cards is making it our mission to spread these encouraging love notes on a Friday of every month.
To kick off our Friday Loves Notes campaign for the month of July, our founder Andrea Loborec has written her words of kindness in some Inkwell Cards and has spread them throughout Vancouver.
Read on to learn more about what expressing kindness through greeting cards means to Andrea.
What are your favourite ways to express kindness to your loved ones?
I always try to remember things that are going on in their day-to-day lives (that are out of the norm) and drop them a quick message the day of to say good-luck or that I am thinking of them. As busy as life can get, I think it's a nice feeling to know that you are really being listened to and that the people in your tribe are never too busy for you. It's the little things.
And of course by sending greeting cards. No one is ever surprised to open the mailbox and see a card from me, special occasion or not.
How does giving and receiving greeting cards impact you?
Giving and receiving cards has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It is still a way in which I let people know that I am thinking of them. And to me receiving cards is so personal, their handwriting, their words to you. It was with you and only you in mind that they wrote that message. It makes you feel special.
Tell us a story about a greeting card that you'll never forget.
Ahhhh I have a few of these, but one that really stands out is when a girlfriend of mine painted a birthday card for me of a bouquet of flowers. Each flower represented each of our close friends. She used vibrant colours and without even asking I knew exactly which flower was which friend.
Do you keep your greeting cards forever?
Yes! And as we are slowly running out of space with an 11 month old now at home this may be an actual problem. But it's SO fun to look back through all these old cards. I still have cards from birthdays when I was in elementary school that my Mom kept for me.
If you could give your younger self words of encouragement/kindness, what would you say?
Dear younger me,
I encourage you to surround yourself with people who support you, who challenge you, who make you strive to be better and to do better. Be gentle with yourself on your journey, you have been given all the necessary tools to achieve your dreams and you WILL get there. Just don't forget to live along the way.
